Boston

The Boston Piano Company was formed by Steinway Musical Properties, owners of Steinway & Sons. Drawing on the incomparable experience of Steinway, proven concepts and materials were adapted for the special requirements of high tech manufacturing. While the heritage of Steinway is unmistakably present in a Boston piano, all designs are unique. With a full sound, beautiful balance and long sustain, Boston pianos lay claim to a unique design feature that offers a substantially larger soundboard area, allowing many pianists to feel they are playing a much larger piano.

Carl Ronisch, who in 1845 owned a small workshop in Dresden , became one of the foremost pioneers of piano-building in his time. In 1866 he had the epochal idea of using a full cast-iron plate in the piano, employing five struts and completely covering the wrest-plank, allowing for the first time a high-tension scale. This is considered the beginning of the use of full cast-metal plates – today's standard in the industry. Ronisch instruments won gold medals in the world exhibitions in Sydney , Amsterdam , Melbourne , Chicago and Paris . Carl Ronisch was appointed Royal Purveyor to the Courts of Saxony, Spain, Sweden-Norway, Austro-Hungary and to the Tsar of Russia, thus laying the foundation of his world-famous name. With more than 150 years of history (available in Australia since 1879), Ronisch has been the instrument of choice for such great composers as Richard Strauss, Anton Rubinstein, Edvard Grieg, Puccini and Rachmaninoff.

Apart from a distinctive “big” sound and incredible projection, one of the most popular features of the Ronisch piano range it their fascinating array of rare woods - finished to perfection to complement virtually any decor.

The exquisitely individual range of Ronisch pianos is distributed exclusively in Australia by Allans Music.

For musicians and music-lovers around the world, the name Yamaha means quality you can count on. Yamaha takes a 'total approach' to piano-making, retaining complete control over virtually every component at every stage of production - even building much of the production equipment themselves. Rather than assembling pianos from parts produced by outside concerns, Yamaha designs, tests, evaluates, and manufactures all major parts in-house or at Yamaha subsidiaries and joint ventures. This allows them to maintain the highest standards of quality management, and ensures that the Yamaha piano you select is fully worthy of the Yamaha name.

In January 1980, the company released the Casiotone electronic keyboard, which was designed to be so easy and fun to play that anyone could learn it without any special training or rigorous practice. The objective of the Casiotone was not to create a keyboard with the typical electronic sound, but rather with tones that reproduced the sounds of the piano, organ, and guitar. The economic growth at that time in Japan had created a cultural mood characterized by a shift away from material toward spiritual pursuits, and the Casiotone was instantly accepted by the market as a fun new way to enjoy music. Since then Casio has produced a popular and highly affordable range of digital pianos and portable keyboards for the enjoyment of beginners, amateurs and professionals alike.
